ZADAR

Zadar is the second largest city on the Adriatic coast and the fifth largest city in Croatia. Located in the central part of the Adriatic coast, it is the center and largest city of Zadar County with over 75,000 inhabitants. Zadar is today one of the most visited tourist destinations on the Adriatic with many tourist attractions. From the historical sites we would mention the Cathedral of Sts. Stošija from 12th Century, which is also the largest church in Dalmatia. Zadar is also adorned with numerous churches, the most famous of which is the church of Sv. Donat from the 9th century, which is today a symbol of the city of Zadar and the most famous monumental building in Croatia. It is possible to visit the church individually or in a group with a tourist guide. Zadar is full of historic buildings such as palaces, monuments, monasteries and squares.

The old part of the city, surrounded by walls and the entire stone-lined streets, brings all the visitors of Zadar back to history and gives them an unforgettable experience. The main and largest street is Kalelarga, which is connected with many smaller stone streets and is the backbone of the old part of Zadar and an inevitable promenade of all Zadar local peole and Zadar guests. If you decide to take a stroll through Kalelarga, you will pass through Peter Zoranic Square, you will see the Church of Sv. Šime, the Rector's Palace, the People's Square with the City Lodge, the City Hall and the City Guard. Below you will reach the Cathedral of Sts. Stošija and then to the Church of Our Lady of Health.

After a visit to the old town it is time to take a detour along the Zadar seafront, which is an ideal place for a stroll along the sea and a beautiful view of the Zadar canal and the islands of Pasman and Ugljan. In the western part of the Zadar seafront are the famous Zadar Sea Organ. You will recognize them for their cascading stone steps in seven sections below which, at sea level, there are 35 pipes of different lengths, diameters and slopes. Wave-driven air travels through pipes to the corridor below the coastal promenade, and through the openings in the stone, exits into the promenade and produces beautiful sounds. The sea organ is a must-see destination for all visitors.

Not far from the Sea Organs is another original engineering innovation, the Greeting to the Sun. Greeting to the Sun is a 22m diameter circle on the Zadar seafront filled with more than 300 glass panels below which are photovoltaic solar modules. During the day, the solar modules absorb the sun's energy to start the light play of the luminaires built into the circle after sunset. This is the part of the seafront that you should definitely visit in the evening and enjoy one of the most beautiful sunsets, the wonderful music of the sea organs and the light effects Hello Sun. When you are already in Zadar, you can also visit the largest shopping center in Dalmatia, Supernova, where you will find hundreds of stores of well-known brands of clothing and footwear, as well as other shops and catering establishments.
